I Quit For The Record- For All You Local Rednecks

and it was about time. That’s how I feel when it comes to arguing with my boys . They wanted to skip school and go to Game Stop to get the newest Grand Theft Auto. I guess I’m a terrible mother because they have it, but there was a catch to their foolishness. They would have to go to the doctors and get a shot, seriously my oldest had to get another chicken pox vaccine because the first one he had when he was two may not protect him from the chicken pox. Boy- there is something wrong when a shot in the arm is not a distraction from skipping school.

Game Stop was our first stop before the doctors yesterday. “but mom the graphics are amazing.” That’s not what I see. I see hookers getting beat up and random killings. But all they see is a good game. So good that they predicting the release to beat this weeks newest movie release at the box office.

I love technology! Just a reminder my son’s are 18 and 16-this is not a game for little kids! Absolutely no one under 16 should play this game.

Another Disney Star

miley_cyrus_bra_02.jpg
In hot water. Miley Cyrus is added to Disney’s list of the not so favorable. Cyrus spat out that she is embarrassed by the her naughty snap shots on the internet and her back baring photo’s in Vanity Fair. Just another teen wanting to grow up too soon.

Cyrus was not on my favorite list of tween idols either. In fact, just the site of her “Hannah Montana” character makes my stomach queasy. I wonder why the parents of young girls want their daughters to emulate this type of character. There are so many other more admirable characters they could aspire to look up to.

What ever happened to “Nancy Drew”, which was on of my favorite book series growing up, or little girls even pick up a doll?

I am so glad God blessed me with two boys.. I don’t think I would have been able to deal with all the tween makeup and glitz that parents let their girls wear.

I know one little girl who wants to dress sexy! She is only in the first grade. Why is that I asked myself over and over. Is it the media, and characters such as, “Hannah Montana”, or is their parents giving in to their daughters every whim.

Childhood is too short let them be little girls just for a while longer.

John Adams

History comes alive with this great mini series. It really brought history to life.

“Adams’ contribution to the founding of this country doesn’t get much play compared to Washington, Jefferson and Franklin but it’s hard to imagine how the Revolution would have started or been successfully prosecuted without him.

If you have any interest in the Colonial/Revolutionary period and haven’t read McCullough’s book, you owe it to yourself to do so. McCullough tells the story through the letters between John and Abigail and captures a wonderful relationship between two people who love each other dearly but spend a large part of their lives separated from each other and at the center of the founding of this nation.

I can’t wait to see how Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney bring these two interesting and complex people to life.”

This is just one review that applause HBO’s John Adams.

I wish every school in America would make this mini series part of there high school curriculm.

Well I just got off the phone with Mr. Ralph Cigich, Director of Services. He had the nerve to say “You should of thought of this when you complained about the roof and mold in the school.” Who the Z*&^% does he think he is talking to!

I asked him, “so your telling me it’s my fault they are fixing the school!!”

He said I was the only parent complaining about the smell.

Ok PARENTS WHERE ARE YOU?

HE ALSO SAID I COULD COME AND WATCH A VIDEO FROM THE COMPANY WHO MAKES THE CHEMICAL.

I just got a data sheet from Mr. Cigich and it say as clear as day it may cause cancer in humans!!!

Cigich, replied, “that’s if your nose is in it!” I’d like to rub his nose in something and its not Petroleum!

Does it stink at Penn Trafford High School. I took a walk on the wild side with Mr. Inglis the school principal. I wanted to see for myself about the odor. I thought maybe my kids were exaggerating but they were not.

There are some spots worse than others . The only solution is for the school admins. to stop construction. That’s ok for the seniors who are not coming back but what about the others students who will be returning in the fall.

The problem is the school admin should of thought about building a new school instead of a new roof.

I worry about the chemicals they are using so my next step is to get a list from the school. I am thinking about calling the EPA .

I was impressed with Mr. Inglis taking the time to take me around the school. I am really fond of him; not only is he good looking he has a sense of humor. He said , “You don’t have many friends in the school do you .” I don’t have many friends at all in Penn Township that’s because am a student advocate and I look out for their rights not only as a parent but human being.

Not many parents care- all they care about is if their kid got to pitch at a baseball ball game.
When something involves my kids I fight back like a lion who cubs are being attacked! I don’t care how old they get.

School is tough and so is being a parent.

I’m not that old that I don’t remember what’ it’s like being in school. I was spanked in the first grade! I still remember that day.. It still brings tears to my eyes. I was only six years old and I still remember it. It was a nun wearing one of those black habits - boy would I like to find her today and remove her feeding tube.

Just remember when you seniors throw up your cap May 28th -those high school days are over and nothing before that day will matter. What you did in school or your friends will not matter except your grades. Know one cares if you played varisty football, baseball or if you made homecoming queen or king. No one cares what shade of blue your prom dress was or if you sat by yourself at lunch all year long.

All that matters is what you do after graduation and what you strive to become and never let anyone try and silence you.

Today is the big primary day. Vote for Hillary so the other guy does not have chance.

All you seniors who are registered go out and vote!!!!

By the way I’m starting to get a headache from that stinky school!

Texting Violence

This morining my son said, ” I love you in case I die.”

What was that about-

He got a text saying someone was going to bring a gun to school and start a killing spree!

This is my favorite school Penn Trafford.

Then I get a text at 9:20- 9 police cars at the high school.

Can someone explain why kids have to do these stupid things.

Don’t forget to vote Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s your right!!! Do it right!!

Penn Trafford Take a Stand- Don’t Support Hate

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

“If we don’t believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don’t believe in it at all.”

If you want to stand up and show you disaprove of one particular students choice of political clothing, images.jpg which represents hate, murder, and racisim here is your chance.

One of my readers came up with a great way to do so without breaking any laws.

273px_Anti_Nazi_Symbol.svg.png

All you need is a white t-shirt, a stencil of a swatiskia, black and red spray paint(make sure you put a piece of cardboard under the t-shirt before you spray.. Or just use plain old magic marker.

Here is a link to different anti-hitler signs:

Back Up and Running

Friday, April 18th, 2008

It’s good to be back!

It seems that a post I wrote months back is getting some attention. It was about an ignorant students choice of clothing.

Its not a very nice shirt indeed especially if your Jewish.

I need not say more unless your interested in reading the post:

About Mom’s Soap Box

Moms Soapbox is a forum for all of the fantastically ridiculous issues that face Moms (and Dads) in today's world of information overload and endless checklists on how to be the perfect parent. My intention is to break some stereotypes about what a Mother should be and share with my readers the experiences I have had in raising my two teenage sons while trying to juggle graduate school, a house full of responsibilities and a desire to go with my gut when it comes to parenting. My hope is to show that you can be comfortable enough with yourself and your family to show the world that it isn't a competition but rather a journey to learn and laugh as much as possible
