Dr. Phil a Phony

I was listening to Good Morning America’s Radio show online this morning and was very impressed with what their guest, Dr. Michael Welner a forensic Psychiatrist had to say. Dr. Welner voiced his opinion about Dr. Phil and his visit with Britney Spears in the hospital.

I learned that Dr. Phil does not have a license to practice psychology. What was he even doing going to the hospital in the first place. Dr. Phil said he was asked by Spears’ parents. Then he changed his tune, and said later he was going as a friend of the family.

I admire what Dr. Welner said in respond to Dr. Phil latest comments on Spears. He said on Good Morning America Radio show- that Dr. Phil should think about the company he keeps.

Without directly speaking in a negative way about Dr. Phil, Dr. Welner said anyone whether professional or personally that surrounds themselves with negative people are jeopardizing there own reputation in a negitive way.

I have always told my children to pick your friends don’t let them pick you. You are judged by the people you associate with. And you will eventually be guilty by that assocation if they are not in good standing with the public. I think that was the best advice Dr. Welner could give any one expecially young people.

Why on earth would Dr. Phil want to be friends with a young, pill poping, media crazed person. What he should have done was asked permission and then he should have never spoken with the media if he really cared about the welfare of Britney Spears and her children! No wonder he does not have a license to practice.

I, for one, believe that sometimes psychologists have to surround themselves with people who actually have problems. Even if those problems are horrible in the public eye, that doesn’t mean that psychologists become pill-popping “killaz” by surrounding themselves with them.

    Hopefully you are right.

Dr Phil got caught with his professional pants down. From what I have learned about the incident, Britney was very angry at him showing up in her hospital room. She had not given her permission for his visit. And then to top it off, Dr. Phil contacted the media about his visit and gave interviews. Britney’s family felt betrayed by Dr. Phil. He was another shark cashing in on the media frenzy surrounding Britney Spears.

About Mom’s Soap Box

Moms Soapbox is a forum for all of the fantastically ridiculous issues that face Moms (and Dads) in today's world of information overload and endless checklists on how to be the perfect parent. My intention is to break some stereotypes about what a Mother should be and share with my readers the experiences I have had in raising my two teenage sons while trying to juggle graduate school, a house full of responsibilities and a desire to go with my gut when it comes to parenting. My hope is to show that you can be comfortable enough with yourself and your family to show the world that it isn't a competition but rather a journey to learn and laugh as much as possible
