Is This Mid-Life Crisis?

by

My best friend recently told me about one of our mutual friends who had started playing on the Orange County Roller Derby team. I was so intrigued - all I could think of was girls kicking the crap out of each other - that I had to check it out. It turns out I was pretty much right about the physical part but I think I must be going through an early mid-life crisis because something about this so appeals to me that I am seriously considering showing up for one of their skating practices to see if I can give it a shot.

Before you laugh I have to say that I am usually drawn to weird stuff and I usually become much more intertested if it’s something that I think most girls wouldn’t do. So….I am going to bust out my old-school Sketchers rollerskates and do laps around my neighborhood. I’m sure I’ll get some interesting looks, especially if I complete the ensemble with some striped tube socks and an old mechanic’s shirt. Or maybe I’ll just prove that there’s some fight left in me yet. I’ll keep you posted.

That’s awesome! You absolutely have to do it up with knee high striped socks!!! My friend does this and I was immediately intrigued as well, but I have a lot of back pain and knee problems already :(

…and hmm, depending on how old the boys are this could be awesome or embarrassing to them. haha. I’m intrigued to know what they think!

Hiya!. Thanks for the blog. I’ve been digging around for info, but there is so much out there. Yahoo lead me here - good for you i suppose! Keep up the good work. I will be popping back over in a couple of days to see if there is any more info.

About Mom’s Soap Box

Moms Soapbox is a forum for all of the fantastically ridiculous issues that face Moms (and Dads) in today's world of information overload and endless checklists on how to be the perfect parent. My intention is to break some stereotypes about what a Mother should be and share with my readers the experiences I have had in raising my two teenage sons while trying to juggle graduate school, a house full of responsibilities and a desire to go with my gut when it comes to parenting. My hope is to show that you can be comfortable enough with yourself and your family to show the world that it isn't a competition but rather a journey to learn and laugh as much as possible
