The List

Every one who reads my post know, I am far from being a holy roller; however, I realize the blessings in my life, my children, my parents, family, my good health are all blessing from God. The Legion of Mary is one way I can give thanks for all my blessings.

While at a Legion of Mary meeting yesterday, one of its members told me about the “List”, “what in the world was the List, I asked her.” She was shocked that I had no idea what the list was.

She continued to tell me what the list was. It is a List of organizations and companies who promote and give money to Planned Parenthood. I have always thought Planned Parenthood was a great organization that helped single, pregnant young woman.

Little did I know, maybe they were not? She told me that PP goes out of their way to promote abortions and not prevent unnecessary pregnancies by offering advice and council, but they do the opposite. She said, PP coercions teens into getting an abortion instead of advising them into adoption.

I had no idea that PP give out condoms in the schools, and instead of promoting abstentious they promote how to have sex, just what a parent wants to hear.. They will pick up the teen during school hours and take them to the clinic to have an abortion, without the parent’s knowledge.

She added that the “list” is an evil group of contributors who give PP money to promote abortions. I still wanted to know who was on the list. I had to find out about this ‘list” and what was she rappelling on about. What I learned freaked me out, PP is against big families and the founder was a racist!

After doing a long internet search I found who was on the “List”.

Allstate insurance company
CCA Global (the parent of Carpet One and other flooring stores)
Chevron
Texaco
Comcast
DuPont
eBay and PayPal
Four Seasons Hotels
GlaxoSmithKline
Marriott
OSI Restaurants (which includes Outback Steakhouse)
Sears and Kmart
Sonic
Wawa convenience stores
Dairy Queen, and a Walt Disney are the latest taken off the list.
AT T
Outward Bound West
American Automobile Association (AAA)
Kaiser Permanente
American Cancer Society
Dr. Phil Foundation, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)
Camp Fire
Girl Scouts
Kiwanis Club
Rotary International
March of Dimes
Lions Club
American Diabetes Association
Young Womens Christian Association (YWCA)
Girls Inc.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
Audubon Society
Alzheimer’s Association
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
MDA
NEA
MS Society
Sierra Club

Companies that I found out support abortion:

March of Dimes and UNICEF
Sprint.
After reading this long “list’, will I continue to use, and buy from these companies? I don’t think I could live without my internet connection, I love girl scout cookies, my sister had breast cancer. I don’t know, it has made me think about the 2008 election. And everytime I connect to the internet I may get a little pinch.

Disclaimer: This is by no means a political message, and it not intended to be one.

Planned Parenthood IS a good organization that tries to help the spreading of STDs and unwanted pregnancies, as well a providing low-cost gynecological services to any woman woman who needs them. As parents, we may not like to hear that our kids will have sex without talking to us about it. But the fact is that kids do, and will, have sex without our guidance or permission. I’d rather my kid, if this happens, doesn’t contract AIDS. Making condoms available (no they don’t give them out in schools) to people doesn’t MAKE them have sex, but it might help them be safe from serious diseases when they do.

Also, for anyone who is against abortion, a study published in today’s Post Gazette, shows that encouraging contraception is the most effective way to prevent abortion.

You can still get STD’s if you practice safe sex. There is no safe sex. Yes they do give condoms out in schools. The only way to prevent abortion is not to give them out like candy. I don’t have a problem with abortion if there is rape involved, the health of the mother is at stake, and if it’s done before a heart beat.

About Mom’s Soap Box

Moms Soapbox is a forum for all of the fantastically ridiculous issues that face Moms (and Dads) in today's world of information overload and endless checklists on how to be the perfect parent. My intention is to break some stereotypes about what a Mother should be and share with my readers the experiences I have had in raising my two teenage sons while trying to juggle graduate school, a house full of responsibilities and a desire to go with my gut when it comes to parenting. My hope is to show that you can be comfortable enough with yourself and your family to show the world that it isn't a competition but rather a journey to learn and laugh as much as possible
