Where Were you 911

Where were you when the towers came down?

Last week I read an article saying that Americans are feeling 911 fatigue.

How can we even think of such a thing in American? All of us must never forget the horror of 911. At 8: 32 a.m the first plane hit the first tower, 8:42 a.m the second plane hit the second tower.

This morning I am watching the re-broadcast of NBC coverage of 911.

I hear the trembling of Katie Couric’s, and Matt Lauer’s voice as they report on the terrorist attacks.

As I watch I remember, goose bumps cover my body and all at once I get a rush of sadness.

We must never forget the lives that were extinguished by one man’s hatred of our country and his contemptible version of an ancient religion.

September 11 at 10:00 a.m the first tower came tumbling down. All those lives brought down in an instance. Katie describes the scene as being beyond belief, her voice holding back tears; then they confirm a third plane did hit the Pentagon.

10:29 a.m . the second tower came down. A declaration of war was declared by President Bush.

All government buildings have been evacuated.

As I watch again the horrific, scene– the untold loss of life,  rage begins to take hold of my whole being.

We must never forget—

As I watch MSNBC re-broadcast I hear rain pounding down outside my window. This sets the mood—tears—from above –the tears of so many.

We must never forget—

At 10:40 a.m. A report from wpxi in pittsburgh that a fourth plane has been brought down near somerset County .

Nothing like this should ever happen again.

We must never forget–

We must never forget–

  2. Jennie Says:

I had just walked out of my philosopy class and on my way to get a mole removed. On the way there I heard on the radio about a plane hitting the Twin Towers. When I walked into the doctors office everyone was gathered around the tv. I remember crying and hugging the reciptionist when the first tower went down. Once I got home my family and me watched as they said another plane went down near Pittsburgh. I got up and rushed to my kids school. I live near Somerset– I just had to have my kids by my side.

Thank you for your sentiments and for remembering the day.

About Mom’s Soap Box

Moms Soapbox is a forum for all of the fantastically ridiculous issues that face Moms (and Dads) in today's world of information overload and endless checklists on how to be the perfect parent. My intention is to break some stereotypes about what a Mother should be and share with my readers the experiences I have had in raising my two teenage sons while trying to juggle graduate school, a house full of responsibilities and a desire to go with my gut when it comes to parenting. My hope is to show that you can be comfortable enough with yourself and your family to show the world that it isn't a competition but rather a journey to learn and laugh as much as possible
